Sheffield’s dedicated cancer hospital has teamed up with the city’s most popular health and fitness scheme to help raise thousands of pounds in the fight against the terminal illness.
Fitness Unlimited, An award winning gym membership scheme run by Sheffield International Venues (SIV), has chosen Sheffield’s Weston Park Cancer Hospital as the charity that will benefit from their support for the next 12 months.
Never before has Fitness Unlimited nominated a single beneficiary for their charitable activities. By selecting one charity, they hope to have a bigger impact on donations and offer more time to a worthy cause.
Rachel Thorpe, charity director at Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity, said: “We are thrilled that an organisation like Fitness Unlimited has selected us as their chosen charity.
“We are looking forward to a dynamic partnership which will benefit us both. Through Fitness Unlimited we are being given new avenues to reach out into our local communities and offer local people the opportunity to take part in exciting new activities to help support us. We are very grateful for their support.”

Fitness Unlimited, which offers gym membership to over 14,000 members and classes at four SIV sites across the city including Ponds Forge International Sports Centre, Hillsborough Leisure Centre, Concord Sports Centre and Don Valley Stadium are set to support a number of events over the year, all proceeds of which will go to Weston Park.
Weston Park Hospital is the only dedicated cancer hospital in the region and one of only three in the UK. The hospital has the only radiotherapy department in South Yorkshire and clinicians from Weston Park run chemotherapy clinics in District General Hospitals across the region which means that people in Rotherham, Barnsley, Doncaster, Worksop and Chesterfield as well as Sheffield and beyond benefit from donations made to the charity.
The Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity provides the hospital with vital funding to help pay for world class treatment and care for people living with cancer.
